Crossy Road is an arcade game of the Hipster Whale genre. Each Crossy Road game rewards you with coins that you can use to unlock cool new characters.
On November 20, 2014, the arcade video game Crossy Road was made available. The name and premise of the game parody the classic joke "Why did the chicken cross the road?".
Crossy Road's purpose is to get a character as far as they can without dying along an unlimited line of stationary and moving obstacles. There are hundreds of extra characters, and the surrounding terrain changes based on the character, as do the problems. The character, by default, is a chicken that must cross a series of busy highways, rivers, and active train tracks. When you play as an astronaut, for example, the setting is space and the obstacles are asteroids.
The controls are not very difficult. Tap to advance one place, and swipe to move one space up, down, left, or right.
The challenge is overcoming all of arbitrary those obstacles and beating the highest scores of your Game Center pals, which are shown at regular intervals throughout the route.
